Default car won't start again...could it be the timing?

after replacing the disty with a reman. one, the car started up sputtering, as if it was misfiring, and then would die. i was able to start it up another 4-5 times but now, it just keeps cranking.

im thinking it could be the disty again.
i damaged my previous cap+rotor because the rotor screw came lose and was lodge between the rotor and the inner disty cover. could that have caused my timing to have skipped a tooth?
