Default car sputtering after cleaning engine

I accidentally left my oil cap loose, it came off and made a mess under the hood. I wiped as much of the oil of as I could but it was in every little crevice. My bright idea was to through lots of hot soapy water in the engine bay. Well one of the spark plug wires was not securely attached to the V.C. A tiny and I mean tiny bit of water got in the spark plug tube. the car ran fine for about 10 mins then the sputtering would start and then get worse and worse. So I poked around and found a tiny bit of moisture around the plug. I cleaned it out with a q-tip on a stick. Now it works fine. I didn't realize that would cause this type of problem. Hope this will help others.
