Car randomly when idling and will not start again
My H22A Civic started doing this recently - I drove it to work and 8 hours later it refused to start. It was turning fine but just did not want to start!! So I had it towed home and the next morning it fired right up! So I thought maybe it was a loose ignition wire or something so I check all that and made sure everything was ok. I even disconnected the MSD SCI and blaster ss coil and ran a spare working coil straight to the dizzy as a test. Car fired right up but...
Next day on my way home, I slow down and let off the gas to go over some railroad tracks and it slowly starts to die. I try to give it gas but the idle refused to go up (car was idling at like 300 rpm before it died). Then again, it completely refused to start and I had to have it towed again!!
$100 in towing fees so far and from all this and after reading on H-T, I am gonna say it's the IGNITER in the dizzy or the dizzy itself??
What do u guys think about my solution??

probably the main relay
my car does the same thing
when it sits in the heat or anything it doesnt want to start all the time.
try swapping it out with like a friends before you buy a new one
but thats probably the issue, as it is with most older cars like these

Not the main relay - I used a working one off a friend's civic and it still did the same thing - even plugged mine in his car and it fired right up so its not that... now if it really is the ignitor, is it true that you can bypass the ignitor with an MSD Ignition setup (Coil and MSD Box)?? I ask because I have these...

i wouldnt waste your time with that MSD garbage
try your ecu if you havent yet
do you know if youre making spark?
could it be your fuel pump?
but i would suggest staying AWAY from the msd

UPDATE : My buddy and I were like f**k it, so we managed to take his Ignitor out of his dizzy without offsetting his ignition timing, etc. and plugged it into my dizzy - bam - car fired right up!
So yeah, it IS the ignitor - thanks for tryin to help me figure this out sivtecftw
While on the note about the MSD, I must add that I wired the MSD Coil straight to the dizzy and bypassed the MSD SCI-L Box and I could tell a difference in the way the car revved up - honestly, it seem to accelerate and rev up better with the MSD Ignition box... I am gonna keep it until it craps out on me
besides I like their super-quick response rev limiter thats built into the box hehehe
Now hopefully this thread will help someone else...

no problem dude
and if the MSD works for you by all means use it. honda ignition is good up to 500 hp, and since everyone seems to have issues with msd on hondas, i stuck with my oem
but if it works, go for it
