I realize this is not a honda question. I am posting it here bc VW doesnt have a good website like HT. Checkout my LSEj1 build!! Anyways i need your help


I put the my 2005 jetta 2.5L 5 cylinder on the machine at autozone for the OBD codes and it came up with a camshaft position sensor code. So i replaced that sensor. Problem still occurred. I put it back on the machine and i got misfiring on random cylinders codes twice. I replaced the spark plugs and coils and i still have a misfiring problem. The car seems to drive normal and then it dogs way down and acts like you let off the gas completely (like if you were in first gear at 5k RPMS and let off the gas is how it acts when you try to accelerate)

The check engine light flashes because the motor is misfiring and then the light goes solid then back to flashing.

My friend said my exhaust smells like a fart and makes a rattling sound when it is cold. So he thinks it may be a clogged cat coverter.


DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT CAN BE WRONG WITH THIS CAR?

 

do a compression test. could be alot of things causing it to misfire. my cousins ls is doing the same. and smells like a rotten egg

 

from what i hear it is drive by wire. SO when the ECU sees something that it doesnt like it shut the throttle plate which would be the misfiring code
