Car Jack Not Lifting As High As It Used To...
A little off topic but my craftsman "suv" car jack doesn't lift as high as it used to and there's oil leaking out of the piston area. I've lost the manual and don't know what to do. Any ideas?
The "ram" has a leaking seal. If it's under warranty, get it fixed/replaced. If not, get a bottle of hydraulic jack oil and refill it. There is a large screw head on the reseviour you should be able to spot. BTW, with the leaking seal, DO NOT place any part of your body under the vehicle if it is supported by only the jack. Use jack stands as necessary.
Awesome. Thanks! Any idea what the warranty period is on these things...I've had mine for 4+ years so I'm doubting it's still under it. I'll try refilling it.
