Default Car got sort of flooded!!! Need Diagnoses...

Hello HT,

My EG gsr swap got flooded yesturday, but just enough to fill the floor a couple of inches (about 3"). Had to tow the car home, but started up again today. Speed cluster is dead and the engine light just came on. Car sounds like it is misfiring and bogging out. It feels like it could die any time and has a hard time idling. I figure the water must of short circuit something and got into the motor somewhere. I'm going to check the spark pluggs and the dizzy wires tonight and give an update.

Has this happened to anyone and what did you do to fix it? Engine rebuild?

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Well alot of the time people wil say its hydrolocked, which isnt always the case, i would say change the plugs as alot of the time theyll foul out from running like ****.

check the air filter, make sure its completley dry, change the oil, and if you have a compressor, use an air nozzle and dry off as much as you can

You probably got water in the harness. Pull each connector on the lower part of the harness apart and blow it out with compressed air. If that does not work, do a compression check to see if you really did hydrolock it and slightly bent a rod or valve.

Best of luck.

Well update,

Changed the oil, which was competely black, and did a compression test.

It read 200, 209, 208, 209, so I'm thinking it's about time to do a rebuild, but I'm not too sure if this is really bad. What are your inputs?

Ok update,

Checked my timing and it was off! Timed it right, but now the motor is weak as heck. Thanks for the inputs.

Lee.
