Default Car doesn't start, need some insight..

Okay guys, I will in my best try to explain my situation.

Leading up to event: I was pulling through wendy's drive through for some late night food. I went to park my car, listen to radio etc for about 10 mins. I go to leave and try to turn my car on. NOTHING. no cranking, a clicking sound is about it. I had someone bump start me, and my car runs fine, so I dont think its an alternator. Drove around 5 min or so, tried to start. Seems like it wants to this time, but doesnt' quite. Bump start again. Now, when I get it bumpstarted I drive around a coupel mins. I can start it when the car is warm it seems just fine. But if I wait too long, nothing.

I haven't done anything electrical to the car in over 4 months.

Things I have checked/replaced:

Tried new starter..same thing..
Tried jumping my car, nothing..(not sure if the battery is just toast tho, cause my hydrometer "eye" on the battery is really dark)
Checked the main relay for weak solder joints, its fine (and it clicks when i turn the key to start it)...
Dont think its the alternator because my car runs fine when started.

Any insight is appreciated! Thanks

mike

the hydrometer being black means its done for.

green ball = good

yellow ball = low electrolyte

black ball = bad battery time for a new one.

might be a good idea to check your alternator after the new battery is in because it can damage an alternator charging a fully drained battery. the alt. is made to maintain a charge, not charge fully.

but definatley bring it into autozone or checker and have them test it first.

I know what the problem is. It is the Notdrivingturboaccord-Relay Switch, you can find my old one here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=818283

things I would focus on would be the battery, wiring from battery to starter solenoid, and starter to starter cut relay. I highly doubt it's your alternator since it only happens when you try to starts so it's in the starting system, not the charging system. I had a similar problem to my car almost a month ago with exactly the symptons you described. Be warily of rebuilt starters since they are known to be defective from the factory too. Just because you replaced it with another so called "good" starter doesn't always guarntee the starter is perfect.

I had a perfectly new rebuilt starter that was already bad to start with. I didn't know it at the time and it cause me to troubleshoot in circles. and not know that the problem lay in the starter solenoid. I suggest you check your starter voltage when you crank it. It should be at least 12.5 volts or higher. anything less won't give you enough juice to turn the engine over. IMHO I'm betting the culprit is the starter solenoid or battery. if the solenoid wiring is fried, frayed, or damaged, chances are all it will do is click when you try to start the engine.
