Default car doesn't start grrrrr

i have an 88 HF w/ a d16z6. The vtec is not yet hooked up and i am running a PM6 ECU.

The car cranks over for about 5 seconds then fires. It will run for 2 seconds then bog out and die. If i do this about 3 times then it runs, but not very well for the first few minutes then it is fine and dandy once it warms up. What the heck is going on? I had the timing checked and it is good.

what do you mean exactly? The thing that pisses me off about this car is that I didn't do the swap. I have done 4 b16 swaps into EF chassis before but never this.

a note to people out there. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN BUYING CARS WITH SWAPS IN THEM. You learn so much doing a swap yourself, and most shops can't help you.

Check your O2 sensors. If not that adjust you Idle control valve.

I really doubt it's the o2 sensor unless your getting a code. The ECU doesn't even take readings from the o2 sensor until the engine is warm enough.

Have you changed the cap, rotor, wires and plugs? My guess it's something with the ignition system... My bro's DSM did this for a while, exactly what you are saying - we put in new wires & plugs and it worked perfectly! It also might be worth it to check out all of the wiring, just to see if this previous owner did any crappy 'mods' to the wiring harness itself (cut open frayed wires, etc).

Is it possibly the fuel pump/or fuel filter?

I wish I had a wiring diagram for a CRX.. Then I could tell you for sure if I'm right or not..

But we discussed this in class one day.. And if you crank your car and it doesn't start, but once you let off the key and it starts.. Then I believe it could be your Resistor Bypass circuit..

It could be either a connection at the R or I Terminal of the Starter Solenoid, or could be a loose wire at the Ballast Resistor before the Ignition Coil..

But remember, I'm not sure because I don't have a wiring diagram to back it up with..
