Default Car bogs underhard acceleration....

I drive a 2000 integra gsr. Everytime i try to hit the gas with a lot of torque, my car starts bogging. Then the exhaust would make some popping noises. i thought it was my ecu, but i swapped it back to a stock one, it was the same condition. I do run premium gas, of course. Can anybody please help me out here?

it would help to list your mods...

do you have a fuel press reg
do you have a vacuum leak somewhere
is your TPS properly set?
is your air filter clean?

the popping noise is backfire of unburned gas exploding inside your hot exhaust. also, your O2 sensors are obviously not working since being that rich they should throw a code.

Sounds like a bad O2 sensor. Try disconnecting the O2 sensor and see how it drives then.

The ECU ignores O2 sensor data at anything over approximately 80% throttle.

sounds like a bent valve. do a compression test. if any cylinder is +/- from the others that points to a bent valve

He didn't really specify what "hard acceleration" means to him. Besides it would take him a second to get the throttle to 80% anyway. That could be why he is bogging. I just figured to try the least expensive option first. Also, the popping sound that he mentioned and bogging that he described, are very common when O2 sensors are going bad.

I think it's worth checking out.

My b16 was doing that for awhile. It was running way too rich for at least a month or two, and that messed up the o2 sensor. Upon replacing the 02 sensor and remapping the fuel everything was straight.

thanks for the helpful replies. The bent valves sound a quite scary... Here are the complete details. This incident occured after a few days after I installed my new programed ecu. It was running perfectly for only a few days. Basically, my car is basically stocked. No fuel management or any such. I just have a programmed ob1 and an exhaust. When i meant under hard accerlation, i do mean about 80% throttle. o2 sensors? how would i replace those. dont i have a few?

i can guarantee you that a bad O2 will not cause popping in the exhaust or bogging. if you disconnected the O2 sensor the car will run just fine. how do you think it runs in open loop. a bent valve will be very noticable at idle, you would know. youre problem will most likely be ignition or fuel. if you have a fuel problem the symptoms will be less violent than ingnition. it takes a little bit of feel to seperate the two but the car will cut out or loose power in a less violent way than if it is ignition. an ignition missfire is most noticable under snap throttle acceleration. or whenever cylinder pressure changes drastically quickly. i would throw it onto an oscilloscope, or bring it into a shop that has a scope and check it out. honda by far has the most faulty ignition system ever built, dont be surprised if you end up throwing in a distributor. on new hondas i have seen something that i have never seen on any other type of vehicle. coil drive is present, but the break is bad, there is no real spike. it will run with only one code, PO300 random missfire. you should also hook up a scanner and check for any codes present or in memory.
