Car been sitting for a while and wont start.
My car doesn't wanna start, went to check the spark plugs and had a strong smell of gas. I think its flooded, is it serious? and how would i go about unflooding it, for the car to start?
Maybe I'm wrong here, but I'm pretty sure EFI engines don't flood, thats what carbureted engines do if you hit the gas pedal without the car being on. Since the injectors on an EFI engine only work when the car is on, they can't flood. I realize that doesn't explain the gas smell, just my $0.02.
The car has been sitting for about 2 months. Cause i had the head port and polished. My boy put it back on, the timing is good. We tried startin the car and it turned on once, we heard a nose and took a spark plug wire out and it had no boot. So we ended up gettin another spark plug wire, but now it wont turn on. it just cranks. We been crankin it tryin to start it, that its probably flooded now. Cause the spark plugs smell strong of fuel. And the battery was charging wit a booster.
If it is flooded, what I did and other people do is just let it air out first, and let the plugs dry. You can also pull the fuse so the injectors dont click on and crank it more to have the fuel spray out the top of the motor. I would check the compression with a tester asap also.
Are you SURE the timing is right? This almost exact same situation happened to me. I got my JG Pro Series head. Car was sitting there for 3 months. Timing belt tensioner was bad, and slipped and belt all my valves(the funny noise at startup). It died, kept flooding, kept cranking trying to fix the problem but no avail. This is before I knew the valves were bent and I wasnt getting compression. Im assuming you did a valve adjustment on your head before firing it up right?

double check that it everything is at TDC..
also Check the distributor for TDC
when you take the dist. off there the part that spins and connects to the cam has to be lined up right or it wont start

99% sure Sylverius is right. You can't flood an EFI car. There is no nothing to "flood", No carb or float bowl. And you need power to pressurize
the fuel system.
My guess, injectors gunked up and stuck open , or maybe injector O-rings need replacing.

in my case when I reffered to "flood" I meant that my plugs got so soaked in fuel, that it wouldnt turn over. I would have to let it dry first and let the fuel in the cylinders dry up before it would crank again. But then it died after running for a minute and then plugs would be soaked again and pistons had fuel puddles.

Black shiny gloss to the eletrode end, plugs smell of fuel or oil or both.
Too much fuel in combustion chamber= No spark or no ignition or valves
broken or stuck open or closed.
oil in combustion chamber= bad rings or valves broken or stuck open or closed.
