Default cant rev past 3500...vtec? cat?

got a 96 civic with a b18c in it was all workin good only had a check engine light because still had old 2 wire 02, it need a 4 wire one...but now i cant rev past 3500 rpm it bogs out, is it the vtec not workin?? it was workin what the easy way to know if its messed?

It sounds like you are in fail safe mode. What codes is it shooting?

just got back from 3 different shops in town and no one can plug in or get any codes from the computer, it all has power and every...small town kinda not use to imports really ha...they said the rev limit is stopin it from goin pass 3500

Are you running a obd1 or obd2 ecu?If it is obd2 (96 and up vehicles are unless whoever installed the motor changed it) than any obd2 scanner can read it.Do you have a autozone or advanced auto around? Down here they test it for free.

it has a jdm b18c and ecu, and i am like 6 hour away from a autozone, the guy said he tryed the obd2 scanner and still nothin is it beacause its a jdm ecu?? would that matter with there scanner

i had the same problem it was the cap and rotor get that and new spark plugs and it should fix it also check your main relay

cap and rotor?? i put new plugs in about 2 weeks ago when it was workin fine i will check them can see if they all look good

ok checked the plugs one had alittle rush on it already...only 2 weeks old changed it and still same problem cant rev over 3500 rpm, realy fine...unpluged ecu then pluged back in and it works fine can rev right to redline now, but still got check engines light that comes on after like 30 seconds after starting car, can cant get a shop to read codes dose the face that its a jdm ecu matter to the computer/scanner the shops are useing??

had this problem with my DA would floor it would hit rev limit at 3500rpm. it was in limp mode. was throwing code 4 CPS crank position sensor. Replaced hole new dizzy fixed everything. hope that can help

I had the same problem in my 96 hatch, b16a engine, with gsr ecu - I added a ground to ecu from the corner screw to chassis ground and never had the problem again.
