95 civic ex coupe
with a 96 b16a2 motor completly rebuilt ( JE psitons and eagle rods, port flow head)

I have a b16a2 motor that i recenlty just put in. I'm 99% sure my timing belt was installed right. I checked my plugs and have the just bought the right fuel hose for the swap. My problem I think might be the distributor. My car won't stay started unless i hold the gas pedal at 3000 rpm then it runs smooth, but if I let off it dies out and stalls. It is also hard to start. Can this be caused by the distributor not being advanced or retarded right? Or am I dealing with something else?

 

hmmmmm, maybe you have a huge vacuum leak?

 

You may have sealed the IACV port on the TB or IM...Did you use any sealant? No need for that...Just the gasket is fine...

Be sure your throttle cable is tight, too much slack can cause the engine to die when you let off. An easy check.
