Default cam timing y8....need a QUICK answer plz!!

ok on the y8 cam its got the word UP and 2 - marks directly across from each other at the 3 and 9 o clock position from the word UP. To set cam timing the Up needs to be in the 12 o clock position and the 2 - marks line up with the 2 marks on the inside of the timing cover...or the surface of the head? its about a quarter inch if not a little more in turning distance between the 2. Thanks

The "up" mark will appear to be tilted forward slightly and the line should be parralell w/ the head surface.
