Default Cam Shaft Questions

I wanted to know if a cam shaft upgrade is a drop in or do i have to change the valve springs, cam gears, or other things? I want to put in a new zex cam shaft for a 96-00 sohc. I also wanted to know what the instalition might run me?

If you're going to rev high, you'd want to change out the valve springs and retainers, and to adjust your cam timing you need a cam gear.

Can i get by with just the cam shaft right now and then later change the springs, cam gear, and retainer? It is a lot of money for me so i can only do a little at a time. Also do you know of any other good sohc's? So far the zex looks good, while at least the price. I think it is 280.

Thanks, i guess i will have to first get a skunk intake manifold and then save up some money for a good cam system.

I'd recommend doing the cam and cam gear at the same time. You should not need a new valvetrain unless you intend to raise your rev limit.
