A/C system - compressor wont turn off...?
finished doing a wire tuck, got everything going and the AC working. only problem is when the car is on, so is the air compressor. even with the switch turned off.
assuming all the wires are in the proper places, any ideas on what i should check?

If compressor clutch stays engaged there is a "short", find an pull the A/C compressor clutch relay does compressor clutch disengage?
If yes, problem is before relay, relay control lead shorted to ground or ECU/ECM/PCM has a problem.
If no, problem is after relay, lead between relay and clutch is shorted to 12V+.
Question...
Does clutch disengauge when ign. is trned off?
MM&Y of car please. 94

thanks for the quick reply!!!
when i pull the relay, the compressor clutch does disengage/turns off.
when ignition is off, the compressor is off.

Problem is before relay, [or relay itself is bad] the PCM supplies the compressor clutch relay, [coil] with a ground to turn it on, swap out relay to eliminate it as the problem. 94
That means either the PCM/ECM is bad, [constant ground output to compressor clutch relay] or the lead running from the PCM/ECM is shorted to ground, pull relay and find which relay terminal is the PCM/ECM control lead, there will be two power leads, one of the thicker pins, [hot at all times] and one of the thinner pins, [hot in run only] the other thinner terminal is the PCM/ECM control, it should have a ground only when A/C switch is on, if it is grounded, depin the control lead from the PCM/ECM and test it again, if compressor turns off, PCM/ECM is bad, if not find the short to ground of the control lead someplace between PCM/ECM and compressor clutch relay.
Sorry I do not have a wire guide for a 99, on the 96-98 it is a black/red lead, there is only one black/red lead at the PCM/ECM. 94
