Default A/C help!!!

I have a 2000 civic ex with D16y8. I replaced the A/C compressor and receiver dry, oiled the system, hooked up gauges and filled with freon. Ok here's where it gets interesting, if I fill it to the recommended pressures the the clutch kicks in off and on like crazy and will not stop unless I turn the system off. Now if I vacuum and fill below required fields it'll work only when accelerating or driving, however when I come to a stand still the a/c clutch will stop engaging and start blowing hot air again. However if I turn the car off and let it sit for a while and turn the ac on itll operate as it should while at a stand still until I start driving, then presume to operat as before. Only blowing cold air when in motion. I can wrap my head around it, and I'm sure its something dumb that I'm overlooking. Thanks in advance for any help. Not beat for having no A/c on 100° days.

It's likely the expansion valve is bad. Recover, evacuate. Replace the expansion valve, add about a half ounce of the required oil for your system. Vacuum the system for 30 minutes. If it holds, recharge.

First, refrigerant should be filed by weight not pressures, and assuming it is the 06 Civic that would be 19oz.

Without knowing what the high and low side pressures are as system cycles on and off it is hard to say what is wrong, but I agree it is most likely the expansion valve, a not uncommon problem on Honda/Acura cars. 94

Yea definitely was the expansion valve....figured it out this morning. Now she is chilling. I knew it was something stupid, I tend to over think a problem when its a simple solution.
