Default A/C failure questions!

Ok, so my a/c is out. At first I thought it was the compressor or condenser but it might just be one of the hard lines. Irrespective of that; I heard through my father-in-law that the a/c compressor has a magnetic pulley that has to engage and unless that engages then there is no undue strain or stress on the compressor (which, even if it is ok the lack of refrigerant oil would eventually cause it to seize) then the clutch will spin freely. Thus, the belt won't slip because the clutch is spinning and not sitting in one place. Is this true? If so, how do I ensure the clutch/magnetic pulley never engages (maybe by never turning the a/c on??)? Any help would be great!

BTW, the car is a 2003 Honda Civic Si (k20a3).

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

If you don't want the clutch to spin or engauge the compressor
just cut or remove the belt..

You can't exactly do that with a civic. Well, you can. But your car will overheat We use just one serpentine belt for everything. However, the problem is solved. The clutch won't engage if there is too low or too high pressure in the lines. Seeing that my lines are empty, the pulley spins freely. I have a bad O ring which will be replaced this weekend.
