Default Burning oil on b18c1

When I bought my car, I was told that my motor had only 65k on it..
but I was and still am pretty noob in the honda field, and I really didn't know what to look for when buying a swapped car.
So my car was blowing a lot of smoke in vtec, I was told that it was not tuned right and just running rich, but it only has a few bolt ons so I figured that really couldnt be right.
so I had the motor compression tested and a leak down, and everything came back clean.. the shop said 2 plugs were pretty bad and most likely the culprit was valve seals which seem to be pretty common.
I went ahead and had head work done, valve and cam seals all replaced, I babied the car rarely hitting vtec for 1k+ miles or so, and when I do get on it, it still blows smoke. no where near as bad as it used to though.. It doesnt blow smoke at stop lights, in any low rpm, just vtec. My question really is, was it a bad valve job? or should I look into having my rings replaced...
my buddy said the other day he saw blue smoke so it most definately is oil... I thought maybe it was just burning up all the caked on oil in the exhaust/head, but sometimes it smells pretty heavily, and after an oil change and about 600 miles, I burned though a quart of oil.
Any help H-T??
=/

I know this seems like a silly thread...
and i also know hondas tend to burn oil, especially vtec motors,
but I am so shy of any cash atm, and unsure of what to do lol

yeah i did a leak down and compression...
he said the leak down came back clean besides 2 plugs, i think 1 and 3 were pretty bad, thats why i did valves shop said it was most likely a valve problem
And I am pretty sure he gave me the compression results but it was only 80 psi.. all cylinders were between 76-78..

wait 80 psi? there is your problem right there compression should be 180-210

compression numbers seem like they are missing a 1. i have never seen an engine with all 4 at 80psi. 80/140/180/160 i have seen but not 80 across. the rings are the other area that allow oil burning that hasn't came up in this thread. if the motor is in otherwise good shape a hone and new rings are often all that is needed in the short block

There is something wrong here. Leak down came back "clean" and the comp is in the 70's and 80's. Those two statements alone do not jibe. Those comp numbers are either incorrect, or its time to do some bottom end work (since head work is already done).

I just can't imagine a shop seeing those numbers and doing just the head. I don't know what your sevice numbers are for these cars (others can fill in the blanks for me) but I can guarantee you they are above 100psi.

Maybe you misunderstood the shop?

honestly I may have misunderstood them. Mark at one six did it.... I had them compression test and leak down test her, and maybe he meant 180 in each cylinder and not 80. I saw numbers written down and they were 78-80. Would that be numbers for the leak down?
He practically guaranteed me the culprit was seals. He did my seals, and now I'm leaking oil barely from front corner by vtec solenoid/cam seal.
This winter Im going to pull the motor and estimate an oem rebuild?
Could anyone give me just a basic price range to have head rebuilt w/ oem parts. And have maybe itr pistons/rings put into the block and have both resurfaced?
