Default burnin oil in vtec.....please help

i have a 99 civic si with a gsr bottom end, b16 top end, and type r cams. im makin decent hp and torque considerin my low compression from the b16 head.
problem is, it burns oil like a **** while in vtec. if im drivin it pretty hard it will go through like a quart in 100 miles, but if i drive like a normal person and never hit vtec, it doesnt burn any.
first thought was rings.....but i checked the compression and it hadnt changed. and rings would smoke all the time, not just in vtec, correct?
im thinkin it must be the valve seals....any other opinions as to what it could be?
has anyone had the same problem?

if your rings or seals are worn it wont necessarity smoke all the time. when u rev it higher under WOT your puting a lot more load on the motor and more pressure on those worn seals.

do a leakdown test and it will tell you whats wrong.

definitely rings, my last teg burned gallon loads of oil between services (6 or 7 liters) and it only smoked at high revs, turned out the rings were toast. The valve seals were actually like new but i replaced them anyway, never burned a single drop after that!
