is it black smoke? are you burning any oil? my b16a civic and prelude does the same thing when i go into vtec. its probably just that your car is running rich in higher rpms.

All vtec motors smoke at high rpms. And blow by has something to do with your piston rings, does your PCV valve look like butter when you pull it out

not exactly, if an oil ring is bad then it could let oil by but the compression could be fine.

leakdown test is what will tell you if you have alot of blowby. your motor still could have good compression with excessive blowby

a computor and some tuning will help the rich condition....honda runs rich during v-tec so the motor wont burn up, but if ur careful, and tune it leaner for v-tec, u will gain some power and it wont smoke the rich smoke(will oil smoke), but u would probley get better gas milage when u run it hard than now. Just DO NOT take to much fuel away, or you will need a new one.I know its not exactly ur q, but if its fuel smoke, this will help.
