built motor flooded by katrina
i know the computer and msd box are gone but is the motor saveable. what to do if it got into the intake. how do i get it back to life. i stay in new orleans and now i live in houston since katrina and since there is still water in the city i cant get to my baby. what do i do when i get her back. also anyone in houston or near that may be of some asistance. i cant just call it a loss i have a couple thousand in the motor, and where i stay now i hear them running at night and i cant take it without my car. please help
if you can get it cranking, remove the plugs and blow out the cylinders. Use air to remove the rest. throw some wd-40 to avoid rust and you should be ok. i guess i depends how high the water was. then you'll have to drain the oil and stuff. sorry about your situation....hope it gets better soon. peace.
i hpoe you can salvage all the parts of your car. hell, even your whole car.
if i were in your case, i would probably disassemble everything and clean all of it. basically a rebuild again(just for assurance).

Don't give up on the ecm right off the bat. Open it up, rinse it well with distilled water, then dry it out very well. Blow it down with compressed air, even "bake it" a bit with a flood lamp a foot to 18 inches away, don't overheat it, like over 130 degree board temperature. Power it when dry. The thing I am not sure of is if the barometric pressure sensor can handle being submerged.
Hey sorry 2 hear that, but if i was u i take my head off and clean everything inside out and u should be alright, dry your distributor with a hair dryer and the plugs i think your ECU is gone you might need a new 1 if i was there in Houston i would give u a hand 4 sure, GOOD LUCK !

As long as the motor isn't turned over you'll be ok even if it's full of water.Just take the motor apart and clean it out you should be ok,I'd change the rings/bearings/gaskets/seals and get a slight hone to be safe though.
