built k20 skipping teeth please help!
Ok as short as I can put this... k20a2 block with pistons/rods, erl s2k oil pump, ips cams, eibach valve springs and retainers, stock k20a2 head. Car drives perfectly fine, once you wot for atleast 2 gears cel pops up reading "p0341 variable valve timing (vtc) phase gap". Pull the valve cover and the cams have skipped a tooth.
Bought and installed brand new k20a2 timing chain, brand new k20a2 timing chain tensioner still same problem (timing skipped). Next I spoke to a mechanic at Acura and he said that he has seen that cel when the intake cam gear has locked up. So I toke the cam gear to him, he took it apart, checked out the piston inside and its in perfect working condition. Next I thought maybe there is something in the oil channel, so I pulled the turbo oil feed line off and blew it out with an air hose.
But still, timing continues to skip. If anyone has any idea, input or has seen this problem before please help me.
