Default built gsr motor smoking!!!!!!!!!!

ok i narrowed it down to what i think its coming from which is CYL 3. i looked at the plugs atleast 1 time a week, each time the CYL 3 plug is charred black, the other 3 are in great condition!!! i am wondering whether it is a valve stem seal problem or possibly a oil ring problem.

symptoms: burns oil. smokes a little but not alot. goes through half a quart every 3 days or so!

my question to you all is what can i do to tell whether it is the valve stem seals or the oil ring???

any help is greatly apreciated!!!! also bottom end was built head was not!

i dont see how the oil rings could be bad as long as the bore tolerances were fine and the ring orientation was correct it couldnt be that...valve seals at that many k's could be the culprit i would refresh that head as soon as possible take it apart and inspect everything if you have the tools and slap new seals in...try that for starters look into viton seals for all of the valves they hold higher heat

if there a bad valve seals you'll be able to see it in the intake/exhaust ports. Just have the whole head refreshed. Try doing a compression test and see what that gives you.

If there is a problem with a ring seal it will show in a compression test. Do one without oil and one with cap full of oil in the cylinder. A leakdown will not show a bad valve seal.
