Default Broken VTec pressure switch

Got a block where the pressure switch broke off and was bj welded shut. Now what?

It's a usdm b18c1 Gsr engine

I may have to scrap the block I am a little curious what affect this would have? VTec will still engage? If it doesn't leak is this very risky?

I got this in a trade and just noticed the jb beside the oil filter for the pressure switch

Sure bypass the wiring. But how hack is this jb weld is it under pressure? % chance it's going to ruin the engine at some point?

I'm really iffy. Also from a sale stand point is it for parts or can it be used?

Vtec pressure switch is on the cylinder head next to the distributor, not on the back of the block next to the oil filter. I believe you are referring to the oil pressure sending unit for the instrument cluster idiot light. A single yellow/red stripe wire connects to it. If this is missing or unplugged, you will not get a red warning light on the instrument cluster when the engine oil pressure drops below 7psi.

My mistake yes the oil pressure sensor.

It's jb welded I am super skeptical of that

Looks like I'll sell it as running since no leaks. Sucks tho

Why don't you just knock the JB Weld out with a pick and then remove the broken piece with an easy out? It shouldn't come out hard at all. Then simply replace the sending unit.

Can't say for sure, it it's probably ripped out already and no thread left. Once the jb is off the block case has to be machined and cleaned lol

I'm happier with how it is at this time since it doesn't leak and it'll be me using it.

I don't want to sell something that's no good but seems it's not as drastic as I thought. Fresh rebuild Gsr block... Add 12psi 57trim turbo. 12.3-12.5 car all day? ;p

I've repaired ones that are cracked by from over torquing the sensor. Just a little weld & blend, then re-tap the hole. No big deal, especially if the motor is out of the car.
