broken tranny... need some info stat....
my homey got a h22a dropped into his 90 accord like 6 months ago..... this sunday we were driving to magic, and on the freeway.. it sounded like something exploded... the shift **** even moved..... we got off the freeway, and we thought a brake line exploded..... so we drove it back home and forgot about it.... the next day he took a look at it and saw that the top part of the transmission housing had a huge hole..... it looked like someone hit it with a hammer.... a mechanic said that a piece of the axle, like the inside part.. the shaft that goes inside the tranny, broke off and cracked the housing....
what i want to know.... is....
1. would that happen, if you have a h22a engine, with a accord transmission..... i dont think it was a accord tranny... the engine shop told us it was a prelude tranny, but i didnt trust him... they were seperated....?
2. is there any way i can find out if its a prelude tranny.... i heard that b series trannies have codes, like, y81 or something like that..... how can i identify a prelude tranny, or the tranny that is in the car...?
3. of course he needs another tranny... but he wants one with a LSD.... is there any preludes, or transmissions that can be safely used with the h22a that has a LSD stock....?
4. what do you think really happened to that tranny...? we were going about 70 mph, and we were not messing around or anything....
thanks in advance guys.....

Post some pics of the damage. It sounds strange how it happend out of no where.I think the only tranny's with lsd for the prelude are the jdm tranny's.Check the front of the tranny,it should have some sort of code.
i will try to take pictures tomorrow... or when i get to see him... it was strange the way it messed up.... well he does have the same axles hes had for like 2 years... and they are messed up..... thats the only thing i can thing of.... but does anyone else have any answers to my questions..?..

I have beentold that the transmissions are interchangable. shouldnt cause any
problems either way though.

there are, unfortunately,i do not know what they are. you should ask in prelude or accordforums.

JDM 98+ Prelude S-Spec trans has LSD standard. Dont know how rare they are though.

my guess would either be a bearing was bad and caused something to get out of
alignment or the trans was low on fluid. without seeing it its gonna be hard to
make any sort of good guesses though.
