1987 Honda Civic 4-Door - release lever to open hood broke, hood does not open. I have tried going through the front grill, but there is no access into the engine compartment that I can see. I have tried using channel locks and pulling on the cable, and nothing. I have tried pressing down hard on the hood, and nothing. I went to a Honda dealer, and they told me I had to drill a hole in the hood to access the lever. There MUST be a better way. I can't be the only one this has ever happened to. I don't have the owner's manual, but I doubt there would be information like this. Does anyone know how to open the hood when the hood release lever breaks? To top it off, my car is now overheating!!
