Re: Hood Latch Stuck (FritschDog)
Try pushing down hard just above the hood latch above the Honda symbol. If the latch has not been oiled or greased in a while the latch starts to stick. If you can get help from a friend to pull the hood release while you are doing this it may open much easier. Before you close it be sure to lube the latch. This worked for me everytime. Hope this helps!

Re: Hood Latch Stuck (broncoman74)
Tried the "one push on hood and the other pull latch". This hasn't worked. The bad thing is the car hasn't ran in 6 months and the battery is dead. Cable is not broken. Is there any other way to get to hood release?

Re: Hood Latch Stuck (FritschDog)
if the cable isnt broken then..it's probably stretched..or..the hood latch lever mechanism is broken..what you might try is..take the end of the cable out of the hood latch lever(make sure the cable is still attached to the back part of the mechanism) and grab the end of the cable(little ball thingie) with some pliers and tug on it..unfortunetly..thats how i have to open my hood right now until i can get it fixed properly...laziness owns

Re: Hood Latch Stuck (FritschDog)
if your cable is not broken then from the driver side fender put your hand inside the plastic gaurd thingy on top the wheel then pull the hell out of the cable the hood should pop...

Uh, donno why people are telling you to pry your hood up or whatever. You can access the latch by taking off your bumper, or if you have really small hands, you can probably reach it from underneath.

Re: (Phshorty)
Remove the front bumper. Tug on the hood release cable with a pair of pliers. Grease up your latch mechanism, sounds like it is seized.

this method has worked for my 97 suburban and my current crx's (crumbled hoods)
with a friend who is pulling on the hood release lever, litghtly pound on the front of the hood just above where the latch is. Also try combining the light pounding will pulling on the hood.
ghetto, but its how i have to open my **** until i get my new hood

down at the bottom of the bumper there is a screw that holds the latch if u unscrew that i think the latch should come up far enough for it to unlatch you might bend the metal that hold the latch but it is easy to fix. the screw is a 10 mm nut it is where the lip is located.

Re: Hood Latch Stuck (FritschDog)
yep, I had the same problem. We used the take off the bumper method. My hood release cable wasn't working and now I've got zip ties attached the latch (yep, ghetto but works)

It's already been mentioned, but this has occasionally been an issue with all three CRX's I've owned. Like they said, push down on the hood where the symbol is, and it should pop when you pull the lever.

here's how the thiefs pop'ed my hood:

they probably used a "hook" tool to pull down the hood latch cable through the bumper.

Re: Hood Latch Stuck
The first place to look & try is just above the front drivers side wheel in the well behind the plastic cover guard if its still there. Take out the clips remove wheel cover from wheel well to expose the hood release wire. Then get vice grips or reg pliers and pull on the release. This method works 9 out of 10 times on most Civics & other models. Its also the quickest & easiest of the 3 main access methods as it involves the least amount of tools & work. The access through grill and then via under carriage are best done at a shop with a hoist and proper tools as to not cause damage but can be done anywhere with enough perserverance. I would advise our wheel well method as it is the easiest & usually gets the hood open in most cases.
