Default Broken bolt in distributor

The distributor on my 91 Integra has a broken bolt in the hole where the rotor is bolted onto the distributor shaft. The bolt is tiny 4mm x 8mm. Its so retarded because it's an otherwise perfectly good OBD-0 Distributor. Is it too small to drill and extract - or should I just get a new distributor?

try using a screw extractor, you can buy these from snap-on, mac, matco, sears. they really do work pretty well.

I have a screw/bolt extractor kit from Sears. However the smallest extractor #1 is probably too big. Its a tiny 4mm bolt.

I had the same problem with a customers car , what i did i went to the junkyard and a distributor that was bad and repalced the distributor shaft.
If I were you and would get an 91 acura integra distributor at a junk yard , if you can get one that they know is bad (so it will be cheaper) and replace the shaft
It is fairly easy to do. This may be an extreme option but it is what I had done to get the customers car fixed as soon as possible. Oh i forgot i tried getting it out and totally fucked it up more
Just my 2 cents
Good Luck

All the clamping force of the screw is held by the head of the bolt with it removed you may be able to just place your finger on it and press hard and back the bolt out if not try and apply some force with a screwdriver and slowly back it out. If all else fails get a reverse drill bit it should be able to get that sucker out.

Also you may want to try and use a dremel to cut a little slot in the top of the screw to get a flat head on it.

i've tried those screwout bits from sears, and i think they suck, all they did was bore out the head of whatever i was trying to take out, they never gripped into it like they're supposed to. i wish i knew what i used, i borrowed something from my uncle that worked ****** awesome, but like said, i don't know what the kit was called, so i'm not of much help

Im gonna try this:

Drill-Out Power Extractor Set. Luckily the smallest bit they make is 1/8" or 3mm which is the diamater of the bolt.

There is a process called "EDM", I think it stands for electrical discharge machining where they can take out the screw and leave the threads intact. In Phoenix it costs about $40 to have it done. It is a shure thing, and a lot better than taking a chance on damaging the shaft. You should be able to call a few machine shops in your area and find someone who does it.
