The most problem I have ever had with a axle being broke is when it's disconnected. When that happens the car doesn't even move but it still happens to do the top speed. If your axle is cracked you'll feel it in the car. My car had a tendency to be weak on the right side and steering was weak as well. It pulled a little but not noticebly a huge difference. I don't know if this will help you but it was worth a shot.

the highest chance for breaking an axle is while you are launching.
if you are using street tires (meaning no slicks) dont worry about breaking an axle. it will probably never happen. but if it does, you may hear a funny *** noise and the car wont go anywhere. your speedo will still go up but the car wont move. it sucks. ive broken 2.

hahaha friend has broken 3 axles on street tires...so yeah it happends...

when it happends while on the freeway like it did when i was driving my friends car the car will pull to the side and the steering wheel will viberate A LOT!

if it breaks on a launch you'll be going for one moment then going nowhere the next all while still in 1st gear...

it happen to me. imo i always redline and peelout whenever i ran my car. after a while you hear clicking sounds when you turn. unfortunately i took mine for granted. i heard the click sounds even when i was driving straight. i didnt hear them snap, but the steering wheel was shaking side to side like i was shaking my car. i stop and after that my car wouldnt go forward. i got it fix a week later to find out that i broke both of my axles. i got scared that day cuz i could only go straight couldnt turn left or right. so if u hear clicking sounds its because ur cv boots tore and have been like that for a while. correct me if im wrong. but have it fixed right away.

it only makes that sound whenever i'm turning, i know its that axle because this b16a came from my coupe that got hit on the front tire and the passenger side. can i use any 94-00 ls or gsr axles? how much is the average price(i need the passenger side, short one) any good place to buy one? anyone have a spare?

Did you check your axle boots? make sure there is not any grease leaking.

I suggest you get a new axle anyways.

If you are consistently breaking axles you need stronger motor mounts!
