Breaking in ACT HDSS, tips ?
I searched and read some break-ins regarding the puck clutches, but I'm going with a HDSS, street disc, full face, sprung.
I am putting in the clutch today and can't find the ACT tip sheet, so what's the best way to do it ?
What I know:
Drive 500 miles, stop and go style, not highway
Go easy on the engagement
No racing, no quick starts, no hard shifting.
But what about rpm and speed ? Am I not supposed to go past specific points for the clutch's sake ?
Do I slip it at all or go with a firm, quicker engagement ?
Can I REALLY race after 500 miles ? I need to get this puppy broken in for an event on sunday.

from what i've read you are supposed to keep the shifts under 4krpm. i'd slip the clutch like you would normally (a small amount). i would not recommend holding the car in one spot on a hill with the clutch and throttle or downshifting hard. if you're gunna downshift then rev match and slip a little. that should do it. if you do 500 miles of stop and go traffic that should be ready for a sunday event. good luck
As long as the clutch is engaged, it could be spinning at 15,000 rpm and not give one ****. If there is no relative movement between the disc and the flywheel and pressure plate, nothing is happening to the clutch.
City traffic, take off easy, shift without slipping and it will be a happy clutch. Don't worry about RPM specifially, just make sure when you shift, you don't drag the rpm down when you reengage the clutch.

Thanks for the input riceisnicenv....makes sense
Disco... you say that once engaged it doesn't matter the rpm, but I'm concerned since teh clutch isn't particularly seated yet, might it slip at lets say 6k+ ? Either way, I think I'll keep her under 6 grand.

Thanks everyone. This street disc is much easier to engage that my old puck clutch... but he ACT HD PP is surprisingly stiff !
I've clocked about 50 miles so far before an injector problem came up... got it cleaned out and all systems are a go.... imma put on the remaining 450 miles in the next two days.... ay yai yai...

i started off real gentle on my hdss break in. i went like a lil less than 100 miles shifting below 3k rpm, then by like 350 miles i had it up to easy shifts at 5 grand. i think i went a tiny bit shy of 500 miles before i started dumping it and driving like an ***. it held out fine for like 25k miles unboosted and about 1000 on the snail
