Default Break-in on Dyno ?

First i am worried that my stock ecu will not support my motor for a good break in. So, im goin with the hondata s200 and goin to texas for dyno tuning. My question is should i trailer the car down there and start it up on the dyno and go from there? If i go with 30% throttle 30% revs to 40% throttle 40% revs and so on for the break in procedure...to get the rings to seat. By that time will the rings be set enough to handle high revs and get it fully dialed in? Basically how should i go about breaking the car in? thanks

Breaking a motor in on the dyno is really the best way to do it. Trailer it there, prime the oil pump, start it up and let it warm up. Watch the oil pressure, check for leaks, and strap it down. You're right on the throttle, watch the A/F ratio and go 40% throttle, 40% revs, 50%, 50%, and so on. This progression of increasing load is exactly what the rings need to seal, and you need to do it for good tuning anyway. Make sure you let the engine come down off the revs under full vaccuum, this helps get the garbage off the cylinder walls. Once you get it tuned, I'd change the oil and give it hell.

I'm sure I missed something. Other opinions are encouraged.

thanks for the reply, only thing im concerned about is last rebuild there was a horrible knock at first startup...the sleeves where not installed correctly and part of the #1 cylinder fell out. So we resleeved it which should fix the problem, could i start it up at home to make sure it sounds decent then just kill it and haul it to the dyno and proceed from there?

yes as sated b 4 there isnt a problem with how you are goign to break it in..
my father has always broke his motors in just by lettign it idle for 15 mins then rev it at 3500 for 20 mins....done deal..as long as the A/F is good.....

I'm not so sure about holding the engine at 3500 with no load, that's not a great way to make cylinder pressure. About the worst thing you can do is get out on the road and set the cruise control at 75, and thats approximately what's going on there.

One thing I don't like about driving the car to the dyno, is if you encounter problems, you just wasted a trip, time and money.
