Default Brake question

I'm swapping brake pads in my '90 integra right now, and my question refers to the thin metal bits that fit into the part of the caliper that swings up. I think it's some sort of spring to keep the pads in place. On one of my front calipers, this particular part is broken. Is it important? Do I need to go to Acura for a replacement?

Thanks for your help.
