Brake Problem
Ever since I installed my engine swap I have been having a problem with my brakes. If the car is at low idle for a minute or so then i lose brake pressure until i pupm them a couple of times. I don't know if it is just a coincidence that this started when i installed the engine. Thanks for any help.
I am sure someone out there has had this same problem. It acts like it isn't getting enough vaccum but everything is plugged in. Could it be the booster or master cylinder.
i checked the vaccum lines and this is not the problem. it isn't the pads because it doesn't happen all of the time. it is either the master cylinder or booster.
change the master, are you leaking any fluid around the master?
to check the booster, rest your foot lightly with some pressure on the brake pedal and then start your car, if the pedal sinks in a little bit when the car starts your booster is good.

hey crittermatt, good info here, i am wanting to do a conversion myself, but i have a 99 sedan ex, i was wondering if i need to change the master cylinder, i read in another thread but u didnt say anythigng about this. would i need the trailing arm also? in other words do i just get the complete brake system and the lines, do i need to modify anything else? thanks
Usually when its an intermediate problem like this it is the master cylinder or air in the lines. But if the pedal is sinking its usually the master. If the pedal just feels very weak/spongy it might be air in the lines.
Pump up the pedal untill it gets hard and hold it down for awhile. Does it sink?

wat type of brake system are u looking to swap on to your car? in other words wat car are u planing to take the brakes from to put on your car?
now as for the original question if u say the vaccume lines are ok try bleeding the brakes lines and if all else fails probly gona be the master or the slave
