Default Brake Master Cylinder

I was up under my car and I noticed drops of oily clear fluid on the bottom side of my brake master cylinder. Im pretty sure its leaking out of the bottom of the reservior because I have a sweat band around the lid and its still dry.

I did a search on this but I dont know what could be wrong or how to fix whatever is wrong. I would assume I have to replace the entire master cylinder but I dont even know where to begin.

If it's just leaking around the bottom of the resevoir, you should be able to get that seal separately.

If it is leaking at a rubber seal, I sure dont know where that would be. The reservior is sealed only by a clamp that goes around the bottom and holds it to the master cylinder. I guess the plastic could have warped from the heat of the motor making it leak here but it could also be leaking at any of the many rubber seals on the other parts around it such as the flange connecting the master cylinder to the brake booster or the connections to the dual proportioning valve. I dont know how to tell where it is leaking because its leaking so slowly that it takes 1 month driving every day to make drain the tank to the min mark. There is no fluid inside the car like what happens when the clutch cylinder goes bad if that matters. Anyone have any ideas?

Depending on the car..you drive, you may want to take this opportunity to upgrade..master cylinder....w/ booster and prop valve... If you have a basic one..might want to upgrade to the Integra brakes..(nissin)

I have a 90 integra so its already got pretty good brakes and I only have like 180hp+ so I cant justify upgrading the master cylinder. I just wondered if there was like an easy fix and this was a common problem but judinging by the limited amount of past discussion on this topic i guess its not a common problem. Thanks guys!

A master cylninder rebuild kit... is around ~10-15 and you could just read the repair manual and assemble it back..or take it off and bring it to a honda tech. and then reinstall it on your ride?

Where do you get a rebuild kit? is that something the dealer has or is it like a pep boys thing?
