Hey guys i was just looking for your opinions on my situation. There is a wrx for sale around me for a really good price but it has a blown head gasket. Now i have only talked to the guy on the phone but the car has 60k and he took it to subaru they told him it was the gasket and quoted him 1200$. I asked him if it caused any damage to the head but he doesnt know.

My question is, are there any ways to tell if the engine has been damaged any further then the head gasket, like warped for example...before purchasing the car? If that is the only problem id like to buy it but if its worse then that id rather not deal with it. thanks!

 

Well this is a Honda forum, but as with any car with a bad head gasket, if the Car Overheated when the head gasket blew, there is a chance of head warpage

 

yes thats the information ive been gathering. there is no way of knowing w/o dissasembling the head correct?
