Default blockguard???

Would a SOHC block with blockguard hold 300hp???? Do I need Sleeves??

you'll definately wanna sleeve that block, the only way you'll get 300hp out of your sohc is forced induction, in which case you'll need to upgrade the internals, or super high compression ratio in which case you won't be able to run your car without race gas. You're better off getting it resleeved. If you go for 300hp and you cut corners you'll never get there

just sleeve it if you can afford it. blockguard tends to put stress the motor by not allowing the cooling system to work properly. check on F/I forum for exact write up on setups and disadvantages.
