Block Gridle To LS Block Cost?
hey, i think this is the right form for this?
i'm thinking about putting a block gridle on my ls block for my ls/vtec set up. I know the ls block will need some machining, but do the aftermarket (Z10, Endyn, GE, Ect.) need machining also? or does it jsut bolt right on with out any modification?
also when using a block gridle i know you need to get a gsr oil pan, oil pick up, and windage tray. I would like to know how much it would cost to get everything in my car correctly with all the machining done. and is it really worth it?
TIA

check out this girdle, its worth it if u are gonna be revving up to anywhere around 9 imo. without it the crank can warp. if you plan on using this golden eagle kit, you have to use a gsr oil pick up, and then u have to switch to gsr oil pan cuz the gsr oil pick up is longer than the ls.

thanks for the info TrnsferErr, but i don't have that much money to spend that much on a girdle
can anyone tell me how much it would cost to put an OEM girdle in correctly

ya whats the price?? And would machining be necessary to keep the crank bore true?
Edit: Just read the "fine" print on your advertisement. It does infact require an align bore. Ive been told that that is expensive, or at least that not ALOT of machine shops have the equipment to do it. Is there any girdle out there that wouldnt require shaving the mains and an align bore?

pretty much all of the girdles are going to require line boring.
you might get lucky and the bores not distort on you when torqued, but you have to be ready to do it if needed.
the girdle is mostly needed if you do lots of high speed/ high load runs.

so would it be worth it spend the extra money for the girdle. i was just thinking of getting an oem girdle.

We think you should get it align honed but at the very laest you need to have them checked after you install any girdle. You can get an align hone from any capable machine shop for 150.00 to 180.00.

$500 for girdle plus $150-$180 machining is a lot more then i'm looking to spend on a girdle.
i would just like to know how much it would cost to put an OEM girdle on my LS block

Seems to me that my total cost was more like $500-600. You need to buy the girdle (Endyn, $200 + shipping), the GSR main bolts, dowel pins, GSR windage tray/pickup/pan. Then there is machine work for the dowels and the align hone. It ain't cheap.
