Default block gaurd removal

i recently purchased a rebuilt b18c motor
it has a nuformz block gaurd in it......
would i be able to take the head off and just remove the block guard and reinstall the head..

Not if it was installed correctly. If done correctly, then the previous owner would have had his cylinders honed after installing it. The block guards slightly distort your cylinders.

By taking it out, the honing done after the block guard install will actually cause egg shaped cylinders.

However...chances are the previous owner did not do it right, and never honed the walls afterwards. Therefore you should be fine!
