A b18b w/ oversized type r piston or a stock B20 block?which one will make more power? This would be for an all motor nonvtec setup.

Personally I would go with the B18 and the R pistons... that's just because I hate stock bottom end LS/CRVTECs... I dunno that's just me tho... Powerwise I"m sure that the CRVTEC would make more torque but fall short of the LSVTECs hp numbers... My friend has a completely stock bottom end LSVTEC with a GSR head, CTR IN cam, chipped P28 and VAFC in his EG... It's not anything special but full interior on MT 20x6x14 slicks he ran a 13.4@103... Again I would just build the LSVTEC or save to run aftermarket pistons in the B20, that's just my opinion tho... Good Luck
i would get the b20 and put some higher compression pistons in them.. i like the low/midrange torque they produce. the b20 costs a bit more though... but worth it to me. good luck with your setup.
Okay my bad, I totally missed that part about you being nonVTEC.. it's all good tho... I would probably rather go with the B20 in that case... I've never seen it before but heard that a B20/EG can hang with an B18C/EG until around 3rd gear... That's pretty good tho... B20's got my vote for this.. Latez

I say B20 but that's just me... Remember "there's no replacement for displacement"... For being the fastest now I personally would just stick with the straight B20... You won't notice any difference from just being .25mm over... That's goin from ~1835cc's to ~1845... Roughly a tenth of a liter... The B20's additional 3mm bore bumps you up to ~1975cc's... so 1 and a 1/3 liters up for the overbored LS..... Again this is just my reasoning... What ITR pistons are you running USDM or JDM... The compression gains with those pistons aren't anything amazing either... They are on the low-mid compression range for an OE piston... Over them you have PR3's, P30's, and PCT's... Lower than that... just the P61, P72, and PR4's.... And with the LS head having the highest combustion chamber volume it just drops it that much more over the VTEC PR3 and P72 casts... You probably know this but the P73-A0 USDM ITR pistons will set ur C/R at ~10.3:1 and the P73-00 JDM R slugs ~10.8:1.... You'll get a little power from the 1.1-1.6:1 jump in compression but I don't know if it would match that of the B20... Just something to think about... As for the LS block with ITR pistons, if you plan to do LSVTEC down the road I would rather go with that block, unless you happened to drop aftermarket slugs and into the B20... Good Luck
