Black liquid & fuel smell coming out of exhaust?
Whenever I start my engine up usually once a day or 2 I notice some black **** comes out my exhaust. Kind of liquidy. When I rev it up, alot would come out then it would be gone. I thought it could be the rain but it's not cuzz it hasn't rained in a week. I just got new valve seals put in cuzz I coundn't past emissions. Now I kind of smell fuel whenever I start it up to. It used to give out alot of smoke until the seals were replaced. What could be the problem?

the black **** is most likely just soot/coke from the inside of the exhaust being carried out by the condensation, this is fairly normal and i wouldnt think its much to worry about. When did you last replace your fuel filter, if its been on a while then that could be the cause of the smell of fuel from the exhaust

Since you just had some work done on the head. Take a look around your injectors for leaking. Have someone else start it, while you watch them. It will usually leave a brownish resuide behind. From the motor oil used to install them....

My guess would be that you are running rich. This causes you to have black soot in your exhaust, a lot more than if running under optimal A/F mixture. Normal cars will spit out water from the exhaust just from condensation inside the exhaust, but the black comes from a rich fuel mixture where you get raw fuel burning inside your hot exhaust.

not to mention running really rich is going to cause your cat to clog quickly, ive been through 3 of them in 5 months

I can't offer anything insightful b/c I'm still trying to figure out why my engine looks like this:
You can see how caked the carbon build-up is at my exhaust port. The build-up is about 1mm to 1.5mm thick. 75k miles on this B18C1.
Symptoms:
1.) Black soot propelled from exhaust running past 2ndary runner opening rpm ~ 5500rpm. Completely dry. No runny diarrhea until something went wrong after attempting a timing belt/water pump/ITR cam replacement.....rough idle, lots of noises, and bad #4 compression.
No valve seal leaks or blue smoke.
You might be running into the same or similar problems. Maybe you could try cleaning up the 02 sensor and checking the cat for clogs.
I'm hoping buying a header with reversion chambers will keep this from happening.
