Best ways to cool down a b16a...
I already posted this topic in the civic section.. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=76109
Other than the Spoon thermostat and coolant sensor, any other ideas on how to cool the engine down short of getting a new radiator? We got redline fluid in there already. Here in florida coolant mods make a big difference, what do you guys think of these mods so far? Im wondering if the Spoon parts will make a difference...

What else do you have as coolant? Just water and Water Wetter? If not, it should just be water and water wetter. In the winter, if you get freezing weather, put some antifreeze in there.
Other than that. You can give your stock radiator more air. By building an airduct for it. Make it so that ANY air coming through the front air duct HAS to go through the radiator. You can also by a new fan (or two new fans, if your radiator is big enough) at http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/auto.htm . And wire them to a switch in your cabin so you can turn them on when in stop and go traffic.

I removed a/c components including the condenser and that made a big difference. I guess it's because there's more air flow to the radiator now.
first off, you dont need a coolant sensor cause that does nothing other than tell you how hot the engine is. if your talking about the coolant sensor that switchs the cooling fan on and off, you still wont need it cause there is nothing wrong with the one you have now. i also dont think you'll need a new thermostat since the thermostat is there to keep the engine temp up to a certian tempature. when the engine gets too warm the thermostat opens up more to allow more cool water/coolant to pass through, and if the engine is cold the thermostat is closed to block off the cold water trying to prevent your engine to warm up.
if you dont have an over heating problem, then you dont need anything to help it cool down or keep it cool.

you could take off your hood and pay a guy to be strapped to your car and blow on your engine. for extra dough give him some ice water for colder air. colder air is denser and burns better, hee hee. good luck.
Naw first of all i live in florida so i dont need any anti-freeze BUT i got 10% in there anyways. Kinda scared that the water pump wouldnt get enough lubrication from just water wetter and bottled water.
This car will see auto-x time thats why we're doing the Spoon thermostat and with 120+ degree ground temps nowadays it cant hurt. I guess the next mod would be a fluidyne radiator.
