Default Spoon Thermostat & Coolant Sensor

If i buy the thermostat, should i get the coolant sensor too? I figured i could get away with just the thermostat. Anyone know from experience how good these work? Here in hot *** florida we need all the cooling help we can get.

This is for a 00 civic si.

Default Re: Spoon Thermostat & Coolant Sensor (5speedv6)

The thermostat opens earlier to allow for full circulation of the coolant through the engine. At the same time, the stock thermoswitch which is set at a higher temperature range, will never turn the fan on!!! So if you have the thermoswitch also, the fan turns on earlier and the car runs much cooler as a whole.
