I am a newbie looking for what to do to my car... what should i start with... 1998 honda civic ex ... i was thinking maybe cold air intake(AEM/Iceman) muffler (Apexi/veilside/HKS)with the muffler i was going to have a local place make the catback springs (eibach) short shifter (b and m) and a dc sports header it this a good start or should i go some other route

 

It depends on what you are goin to be doin later. If i were you i would just save all that money that you would be putting towards the single cam motor until you have the money to motorswap. If you are not as conserned about speed then i would think that you are on more of the right track. Don't get me wrong you have a good motor to work with it's just a lot easier if you wanna be fast to switch up to some DOHC VTEC. I would just toss a GSR in there or build a CRVTEC for it if speed is more of what you want. My friends 97 HX coupe had a JDM GSR in it last season and it was able to run a 14.0 with just ITR cams, sprockets, ACT clutch, and slicks. Now it's got his new built GSR motor in it with a RevHard T3/T04E hybrid turbo on it. He ran it this last saturday on 24.5x9x13 MT slicks and ran a 12.5@112 on 10 pounds of boost. It's gonna be fun with 16psi.

 

save the money and do a swap ... I tried to build up my d15b7 motor ... and it was just a wast of time the minimal gains I got from I,H,E did nothing but make my car louder so more people would rev me .. and I would get beat more often when i got beat women would laugh at me but now I have a b16a I may not have the fastest car in the word but I dont get beat half as often women throw them selfs at my feet I have many friends and my breath is always minty fresh !!!! yes my friend all this and more can be yours with just a b16a so order now !!!!
