Default Bent cam or Bent cam gear

We are trying to figure out if its my cam or cam gear that was moving. When the car was on the gear would move up and down (you could barely notice it but it was doing it). I think it was just a faulty cam gear but my other friend is telling me its the cam itself. What are the odds that where the gear bolts up to the cam that its bent. Has anyone heard of a cam being bent? What about a gear beig bent? Post up any experiences you had in this matter.

I'd put my money on a bent cam gear.

I've NEVER seen a bent cam on ANY type of motor. The cam will bend before breaking. You have to remember the cam is bolted down in many places along its length; it wouldn't spin properly if it were bent.

In fact a bent cam wouldn't be able to spin at all without breaking something and causing serious damage.

In one case the end broke off of the cam, I think this would happen before the cam would bend so I think it would be the cam gear. Are the stock cam gears?

no they are skunk2 gears. I went out and visually inspected the gears and cam. We sat the gear on the end of a ratchet and spun it. You could see the gear moving up and down. Tried it with the other cam gear and it went smooth. Cam gear it is. I ordered the ST corsa cam gears and I will be runnig these.

I have one good skunk gear I will let go for 55 shipped. Anyone interested.

Yet another Skunk2 product failure. You'd think that by now people would have learned.

I got a really good deal on the head, IM, and cams. I would of thought over the years that they would of started makng better products.

Back in 99-00 I was on the waitig list for their B-series cams and when I got them they ate up my rocker arms. Sure I got a new set of cams but my car sat for a long time cause my rockers were ruined .
