Battery Problem, Need Help FAST! 98 accord

I was swapping out the old battery because it died and now whenever i go to attach the negative cable the alarm goes off. This has never happened to me before with any other car and i was wondering what i am doing wrong.

Can someone please help me fast???????????

Have you tried turning the alarm off with your little key chain that comes with alarms of today?
