Default ball on shift handle slips through cup??

i have to hold the stick up otherwise it falls down onto my exhaust and i cant shift...
its not the bar itself falling through, just the ball on the shift handle...
do i need to replace my whole (insert term here) torque bar or is there a way to put a new bushing in there? its a hasport shift linkage with dc short throw

thanks

edit: i went to honda, who had no clue, also to try and order a bushing and they showed me a breakdown and it seams its the whole bar...

you can get the bushings seperate. prob like $10 total @ honda stealerships

you will need the white plastic peice and the black boot that goes in stabilizer bar

if it falls down the whole way through[?], than there is a problem. that ball is thicker than the flange that holds it in.

.... so what are you saying?

The ball on the shift handle 'pops' out of the stabilizer bar, what part number would i replace or do I need a whole new linkage? #15?

sounds like you need to check the 11/18/19/27 assembly. That's what holds the linkage up. 2 bolts at the end of the linkage above the exhaust (center console). Check it and see.

like dave421 said, you should check where the stab bar mounts upp too. if #18 is shot that couls be your problem

if you're positive that the stabilizer isn't moving then it's going to be the cup. Can't tell from that pic and not sure which one actually does it but #8, 9, or 12 is going to be what holds it in the stabilizer. I've got 300k on mine and she's still tight as hell. Can't imagine what kind of hell it must have been through for it to go. It's also possible that #9 came unbolted from the stabilizer bar.
