ball joint boot question?

ball joint boot question?
how would you change a torn ball joint boot? would I have to replace the whole ball joint? for both the upper and lower control arm? thanks.

There's a spiral spring thing holding the big end of the boot. You can use a $$pecial tool for that or you can pry around it with a couple small screwdrivers or something like that. Then you just pop the old boot off, maybe put some fresh grease in, & put the new boot on. Then work that spring clip on without letting it tear the NEW boot.
If the rubber boot has been torn for a while, then there's probably dirt & crud in there. In that case I'd probably replace the joint.

replace it. dont grease it. itll end up breaking without notice, and you dont want that to break while your driving. the whole ball joint must be changed on the lower. it presses out. the upper ball joint can not be removed, you must replace the upper control arm.
