All right, my tank was empty and the car was running great. I filled half a tank of what I think was premium gas. I didn't get on it, just city driving and about 5 minutes later the car started to SOUND like ****, it's coming from the engine, almost like open header. I can hear the timing of the explosions (a clicking sound, like an old econoline) and the car doesn't pull as hard. I could hear the wastegate open as usual (I thought it could have been my wastegate valve that had opened permanently or something). I checked the oil level and it's ok. The exhaust smells like gas, even when I get on it at idle so no signs that I'm burning oil and I'm not blowing smoke of any kind. I'm back-firing like crazy though.

Does it sound like I put bad gas in? I have no other explanations..It's a B16A2 and I haven't been boosted for long so I'm paranoid as hell. Thanks..

EDIT - I forgot to mention that I'm running on Hondata, on a base map + more fuel and stock timing.

 

is it sputtering at certain rpms or anything ? i had the same problem and it wound up being a bad gas
