Default bad to disable the eld load detector?

my integra is occasionally throwing the code for electronic load detector (eld). i have no idea what wires are touching, grounding out etc but if i had to guess its in the fuel system somewhere....

how bad is it to just disable the eld code through the chip in the ecu and keep driving the car?

well, my car was stolen, i rebuilt it and i got that code. New engine swap, new harnesses, it was completely stripped and i rebuilt from the ground up. I got that code and i just burned a chip with the eld disabled and i'm good. I did everything in the book and tested the eld. It says if the eld is bad, u have to swap the fusebox in the engine compartment because it's part of that. I haven't had any voltage issues since disabling it. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in but i've been running for about 3 months with it disabled and haven't had an issue.

I could be wrong on this but the ELD's function was to supply more power when the demand went up. So basically it kept the output of the alternator to a minimum ( 12.5 ish) and then when you turned headlights on and such, it kicked up the output to 13+ to make up for the demand. I could be wrong and quite possibly am. I dont think the OBD1 cars had ELD's so they just ran at whatever the voltage regulator in the alternator told it to run (13+ volts) The more voltage a car has to supply the harder the alt works which means the harder the engine works which means the more fuel you will burn and hence the more emissions you will put out.

Again check me to make sure I am not wrong on this. OBD1 no ELD, OBD2 has ELD, but OBD2to OBD1 convert will disable ELD in the EEPROM with no side effect.
