sorry for not answering your questions, but on the same note, how long can you drive on bad cv joints? mine makes noise on sharp turns + gas, but fine otherwise. money is tight right now, so i was wondering how long can i wait?

If it is a metal clicking noise its the CV, and yes it is bad to drive. If you mess it up too bad u need new axles. Go to a local shop and have them db check this, they will tell u what is wrong for free. Just act intrested in having them fix it.

Classic symptoms of worn outer CV joints. Turning left or right can indicate which side the joint is failing on. Noise both ways = both sides going bad.

You can run on loose or failing joints. No one can say for how long though. Just hang on when they do let loose and flail around at 60mph.
